All fields are optional, but you can use as many as you want.
Leave a field at its default value if you don't want to limit the search by that field.
You cannot use boolean operators in text field searches.
Searches are not case sensitive.
Pattern matching,. You can use the following wildcard characters in all searches:
The underline character ( _ ) stands for one character. For example, the
search "wom_n" would retrieve both "woman" and "women".
The percent character ( % ) stands for any number of characters (including none).
For example, the search "rock%billy" would retrieve "rockbilly", "rock billy",
"rockabilly", "rock a billy", and "rock-a-billy". But, keep in mind that it would
also retrieve longer phrases such as "rockin' hillbilly".
Artist index entry names:
Names must be searched in inverted order (Surname, Forename).
Artist "As By" name:
This is the artist name, group name, and accompaniment exactly as listed on the disc label.
Names must be searched in straight order (Forename Surname).
Include "A", "An", and "The" even at the beginning of the field.
Label name:
Add the parenthesized location to differentiate between labels with the same name.
Label owner:
At this time only one owner is searchable for each label.
Names must be searched in inverted order (Surname, Forename).
Disc pressing plant:
Pressing plant is searchable only for discs that have matrix numbers listed in RCS.
I have made no assumptions about the manufacturer of discs for which I do not have
matrix numbers.
Track title:
Drop "A", "An", and "The" at the beginning of the title. Also drop punctuation
at the beginning of the title.
Due to eccentricities in the way MySQL handles sybols, most
punctuation characters are automatically replaced by the "_" single-character
wildcard prior to execution of the search. This will usually result in the
results being more inclusive than you expected.
Track reissue status:
This value is based solely on reissues included in the RCS comps section.
Comp album title:
You must include "A", "An", and "The" at the beginning of the album title where appropriate
for a "begins with" search.
